About Us

Taney County’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) has one goal: To prevent substance use among the youth in Taney and Stone Counties, and reduce substance use dependance among adults.

Prevention and early intervention strategies can reduce the impact of substance use and mental disorders in America’s communities.

Prevention activities work to educate and support individuals and communities to prevent the use and misuse of drugs and the development of substance use disorders. Substance use and mental disorders can make daily activities difficult and impair a person’s ability to work, interact with family, and fulfill other major life functions. Mental and substance use disorders are among the top conditions that cause disability in the United States.

One of the characteristic signs of a substance misuse problem is the deterioration of workplace performance. The cognitive, emotional, and behavioral impairment that results from drug or alcohol use can affect productivity, morale, and even the safety of other co-workers. The cost of addiction in the workforce is usually measured financially, but it can also refer to more subjective losses, which can change the entire work environment.
